Project detail:
The proposed project aims to develop West Bengal’s first large-scale floating solar photovoltaic (FPV) power plant integrated with a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Bakreshwar Dam reservoir. The project will generate clean, renewable electricity while utilizing existing water bodies to reduce land acquisition requirements and water evaporation losses. The battery storage system will help manage solar power intermittency, improve grid stability, and support peak-load management. The project is expected to strengthen energy security, supply reliable electricity to rural communities and emerging industrial zones, support employment and economic development, and enhance WBPDCL’s capacity to implement renewable energy projects. Project capacity: Not specified in the document.
Project Cost: US$ 193.15 million (loan funding from ordinary capital resources).
