Project detail:
The project aims to establish a Credit Enhancement Facility (CEF) to help infrastructure projects access commercial financing through India's bond market. The facility will provide partial credit enhancement for bonds issued by eligible, lower-rated infrastructure companies and financial institutions, improving their credit ratings and attracting long-term investors. It is expected to reduce borrowing costs, extend financing tenures, improve borrowing terms, and mobilize private capital for infrastructure development. The facility will be supported by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) through loans, guarantees, and risk-sharing arrangements. Priority beneficiaries include infrastructure companies, non-banking financial institutions, and urban local bodies.
Project Cost: US$ 3,897 million (total estimated operation cost; indicative and subject to revision).
