Project detail:
The project involves construction and operation of a 965.8 MW solar-wind hybrid renewable energy plant, comprising 379 MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic capacity and 586.8 MW wind capacity. The project is spread across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and is being developed under the group captive model, with Tata Steel Limited as the sole offtaker. The renewable electricity will replace conventional power supplied by a 67.5 MW coal-fired captive thermal power plant at Jojobera, Jharkhand. The project supports renewable energy integration in the steel industry, reduction of greenhouse-gas emissions, and employment opportunities, including increased participation of women in plant-site operations.
Project Cost: INR 19,000 million (ADB debt facility amount stated in the document).
