Project detail:
The project proposes open-cast manual mining of sand, a minor mineral, from the Pravara River riverbed over a 1.66 ha mining lease area. The proposed production capacity is 5,880 brass for 2024–25, subject to variation based on natural replenishment. Mining will be carried out manually during the summer/non-monsoon season, with excavation and loading using hand tools and transportation by tractor-trolley to the depot, followed by road transport. The project is intended to meet the increasing local demand for sand used in construction and infrastructure projects. It is expected to generate employment for local people and contribute to government revenue; the report estimates revenue generation of Rs. 35.28 lakh per year, subject to replenishment.
Project Cost: Not evaluated at this stage, as the Sand Ghat will be auctioned according to the applicable procedure.
