Project detail:
The project aims to improve access to safe, reliable and inclusive water supply and sanitation services across 426 km² of Chennai. It will expand and modernize the city's water supply and sewerage infrastructure, including a citywide ring main, pumping stations, distribution networks, household/last-mile connections and sewerage facilities. The project will also improve wastewater collection and treatment, reduce pollution from untreated wastewater, and introduce digital tools for monitoring, service delivery and customer engagement. Institutional capacity of CMWSSB will be strengthened through staff training, performance-based O&M arrangements and digital grievance-redress systems.
Project Cost: US$ 261.00 million (Ordinary Capital Resources loan amount).
