Project detail:
The project aims to enhance community-based management of floodplain wetlands (beels) and improve livelihoods of beel-dependent fisher households across at least 102 beels in Assam. It focuses on increasing fisher incomes through better market opportunities and diversified income sources while promoting sustainable natural-resource management. Key activities include strengthening beel-management institutions and regulations, developing fisheries cooperatives and value-chain infrastructure, supporting hatchery/feed/processing and value-addition initiatives, and implementing beel restoration and conservation measures. The project also aims to increase job opportunities and community income.
