Identification of Project and Project Proponent This Quarry lease Black trap of 1.36.59 hectare has been granted in favor of M/s. Vrundavan Stone Quarry C/o Shri Jagdishbhai Bhagvanjibhai Kathiriya, R/o.Address-27, Nilkanth Nagar, Dabholi Char Rasta, Dist.-Surat (Gujarat). 2.2 Brief Information about the Project The project has been proposed for mining of Black Trap 2,00,000 MTPA of Black Trap mine by Mechanized Opencast method. The mine lease area is 1.36.59 Hect. The expected life of the mine is 5.00 years. Water requirement for the proposed project for drinking use, dust suppression and other use will be 2.64 KLD, which will be taken from nearby source. The lease area complies with all the distance criteria specified by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the directions issued by the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT), Principal Bench, in O.A. No. 85/2018 (WZ) dated 30.09.2020; specifically, we submit and declare no public road, human habitation, railway line, dam, water reservoir exists within 200 meters of the lease boundary.
We also declare and submit that the road located to the south of the lease area, which is visible in the vicinity, is a mineral transport route used by nearby leaseholders to transport minerals to the nearest State Highway/National Highway. This road is not a public road. It was constructed by the Additional Director (Development) of the Commissioner of Geology and Mining, Gandhinagar, as per the order dated 27/11/2019, under the scheme for Infrastructure Facilities in Mineral Areas Fund. The lease area complies with all the distance criteria specified by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the directions issued by the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT), Principal Bench, in O.A. Further a very narrow (width about 0.35 m ) nallah (locally called Dhoriya) is seen which was made almost 15 years back, it is now rudimentary and eroding in nature is seldomly used by the leases in the vicinity to dewater the lease pit.
Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country or Region Today in India Black trap mine is used widely in domestic construction sector, monuments construction markets, hospitality industry, export market and handicraft and antiques. The material is starting to be more well-known and popular because of technological advancements, sophisticated quarrying techniques, and decreased cost of mining and growth in usage as material in the decoration sector. Black Trap Mine as material is showing beauty and long-lasting value and therefore people have started to use it more and more in memorials and in other funerary items. Today Black Trap Mine is popular material in laying floors and cladding walls in airports, hotels and other public and commercial centers.
