Project detail:
Mining is proposed by semi-mechanized opencast method. Mining will be done by open cast method in which systematic benches will be developed and the ball clay will be mined out. The height of benches is kept 6.0m. Loading is proposed by manual means. Mode of working will be semi mechanized. No drilling and blasting will be carried out. Blasting will not be done because the deposit is sedimentary and soft in nature. Firstly,the overburden will be removed with the small capacity excavator and will be separately stacked & then excavation of clay will be done with the help of small capacity excavator and will be separately stacked. The mineral Ball Clay, Silica Sand & Gravel, will be broken up to required size by hammering and removal of foreign material of iron oxide coating attached with some clay ball lumps. Transport of material will be done by tractor or by camel cart up to stack yard. No mineral beneficiation will be done only hand sorting of R.O.M. will be done. In this process dressing will be done by metal wire brush to remove the superficial mud or ferruginous coating with help of axe at the site.
Need for the project and its importance to the Country and or RegionClay is a highly plastic variety of clay of kaolin group like china clay and Ball clay but has less refractoriness. The Chemical composition of ball clay is similar to that of china clay, except that the ball clay contains a large proportion of silica. The main utility of ball clay lies in the plasticity, high bonding qualities and tensile strength. It is therefore, used in bled with non-plastic to semi-plastics clays for obtaining requisite plasticity. It is added in various proportions for the preparation of body composition of various sanitary wares, bathtub tiles, porcelain etc.
