Project detail:
The mining lease over an area 10.043 ha has been allotted to M/s Mahakal Infra Engineering. after auction by Government of Uttar Pradesh vide order no. LOI/2025/2/24022025, Dated 24 02-2025 for five years. A copy of LOI from DMO is enclosed with report. The proposed rate of production is 1,00,430 cum/year of Sand. The lease area comprises of River bed of Yamuna River.
The estimated project cost is Rs. 1.30Crore.
This mining project falls under Category “B1” Project or activity 1(a) as per EIA Notifications 2006 and its subsequent amendment thereof
2.2 Brief description of the nature of the project It has been proposed to collect approximately 1,00,430 cum/year or 1,80,774 TPA. No mining activity will be undertaken during the monsoon season. So, the material will be replenished during the monsoon season every year.
Need for the project and its importance to the country and region The project lies on the bed of Yamuna River. The sediment in the form of river bed material (RBM) deposited in the last many years had changed the shape of the Yamuna bed from a valley to a raised land. Hence, it is necessary to remove the materials so that the stream gets channelized. Due to rapid infrastructure development in India, the demand of construction material has increased. To supply this demand, mining of sand is done. This project operation will provide employment directly and indirectly to the people residing in vicinity, thus improving the Socio-economic status of the area.
