Project detail:
The TA will support strengthening of building blocks of Economic Corridor Development (ECD) under the SASEC program. The TA shall provide analytical work, capacity building, knowledge sharing and policy dialogue to develop physical, digital, institutional and value chains links amongst the building blocks of economic corridors in SASEC partner countries Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy ECD is an important tool to promote spatially focused economic growth, employment generation, balanced regional development, and international trade. Economic corridors have been central to ADB's regional cooperation and integration (RCI) flagship programs, starting in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), followed by Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), and South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) programs. In GMS, ADB embedded the economic corridor model in its GMS economic cooperation program, at the center of which was the development of trans-boundary roads between major economic centers. Similarly, in the CAREC Program, ADB is developing six regional economic corridors, which reflect current and potential trade flow patterns. These corridors link the region's key economic hubs to each other and connect the landlocked CAREC countries to other Eurasian and global markets.
