Project detail:
The project has been applied for process obtaining environmental clearance. Sandstone deposit occurs in one variety only i.e. splittable. The entire deposit is laminated. Thickness between two cleavage planes varies from 0.6 to 15 m. The splittablity of stone is decided by the presence of bedding plane, whose separation decides the thickness of the slabs, which are used in roof. Vertical joints are the other weakness planes, which traversed throughout the field. The distance between such joints varies place to place. These vertical joints are mostly perpendicular to bedding planes. Advantage is taken of the presence of such planes in quarrying. Compressive strength of stone varies from 40 to 120 MPA. The fine and medium grained varieties of sandstone offer more strength and durability than the coarse grained ones.
