Project Detail:
West Bengal Health System Reform Program (P506976).
Proposed Result Areas: Based on preliminary assessments, a set of activities categorized in three main result areas (RAs) are prioritized. Collectively they will improve access to and quality of service delivery as well as equity in outcomes.
• RA #1- Integrated care model: Activities under RA #1 will support comprehensive primary health care (CPHC), strengthen referral linkages to ensure continuum of care, leverage digital technology for integrated data systems and telemedicine, and develop a state NCD Strategy.
RA #2-Alignment of Behaviors Between People and Providers: RA #2 will support development and implementation of social and behavior change communication (SBCC) strategies to improve maternal and adolescent health, especially in priority districts lagging behind the state averages, and NCDs to empower communities with knowledge and awareness about health risks and available services. RA#2 will also support activities to bridge providers’ know-do gap for better clinical effectiveness and measuring and improving patient experience.
RA #3-Enhanced Governance, Accountability and Resilience: RA #3 will support public financial management (PFM), development and implementation of a human resources for health (HRH) strategy and a QoC strategy, improved citizen engagement mechanisms, and stronger cconvergence of programs and platforms targeting adolescent health and development in schools and communities. Finally, RA #3 will support a state Climate and Health Strategy on mitigation and adaptation initiatives to combat climate change as well as heat action plans.
