Assam Disaster Resilient Hill Roads Development Project (P180672).
The project activities to enhance resilience and safety of the hill roads damaged by the 2022 cyclones are prioritized based on the following criteria: (i) tribal communities and smallholding farmers' connectivity to remunerative markets; (ii) women's household handicrafts/textiles producers access to garment factories and regional market; (iii) vulnerability to mudslides/landslides and flooding; (iv) connectivity to railways, high capacity highways and regional trade routes; and (v) production of high-value commodities and tree crops and access to wholesalers, exporters, and processing MSMEs All the three hilly districts in Assam (Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong and west Karbi Anglong) affected by the 2022 monsoon and within the influence area of the Trilateral Highway connecting to the southeast Asian markets (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam) & Guwahati – Chattogram (Bangladesh seaport) corridor are included in the proposed project.
