Kolkata Municipal Corporation Sustainability, Hygiene, and Resilience (Sector) Project.
The project is aligned with the following impact: integrated urban renewal of Kolkata City achieved. The project will have the following outcome: access, resilience, inclusion, and sustainability of urban services improved. Output 1: Climate- and disaster-resilient urban services and systems developed. The project will support the development of climateand disaster-resilient sewerage and drainage infrastructures and systems, which will cover unserved areas of the KMC with due consideration of future increases in rainfall intensity. It includes the construction of 84 kilometers (km) of trunk and secondary sewerage and drainage pipelines, 176 km of lateral pipelines up to customer connections, 50,000 household sewer connections, one sewage treatment plant (STP) with a capacity of 41 million liters per day, and five pumping stations. The project is complementary to KEIIP and state-funded projects, as sewer from some project sub-catchments will be treated by the STPs being constructed under those projects. Strengthened urban services and systems will provide better services to all including the disadvantaged groups who will be prioritized to ensure they benefit from improved urban sanitation, health, and hygiene.
