Project Detail:
The proposed operation will support: (i) reconstruction, rehabilitation, improvement of selected climate-resilient hill roads in Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, and west Karbi Anglong districts; (ii) developing agricultural supply chain for a cluster of roadside tribal communities and promoting market-driven and climate-resilient agriculture; (iii) developing green and efficient rural freight and public transportation system; and (iv) building multi-modal transport network resilience and early warning system. The hill roads project will integrate the tribal communities with the economy of Assam and the sub region by improving the resilience of road connectivity and the efficiency of the agricultural and women tribal community households textile and handicraft producers supply chain. The project will also develop resilience enhancing instruments, establish early warning system (EWS) and emergency response system during disaster events, and strengthen institutional capacity to manage disaster prone roads.
