Project Detail:
As stated in the earlier chapter, the proposed project is in a cluster situation of pink granite quarry. There are 9 leases including the current lease within a lateral distance of 500 m from each other, accounting to 27 Acres 12 Guntas, which could be categorized under category “B1” Activity 1(a) (mining lease area in cluster situation) for grant of Environmental Clearance certificate.
The area has prominent exposures of Gneissic Granite sheet rock deposit in the entire area and exhibits huge sheet formation above the ground level. The quarry lease area is composed of granite of about 30% and remaining about 70% is of defective blocks of granite. The granite, medium to fine grained igneous rock of even texture and Pink in colour, composed chiefly of Quartz, Plagioclase and Feldspars. It usually contains small quantities of mica or hornblende and minor accessory minerals may be present. It is commonly believed to have solidified from molten rock (called magma) under potential origins. Most granite intrusions are emplaced at depth within the crust, usually greater than 1.5 kilometre and up to 50 km depth within thick continental crust.
