Project Detail:
The project will support the provision of materials and supplies for upgradation of around 2,000 existing AWCs and construction of nearly 600 new AWCs in hard-to-reach areas. This will improve GESI responsiveness, resilience against disaster and climate change risks. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme will support the labor force and maintenance costs of AWCs even after project completion. The project will be aligned with the following impact: early childhood growth and development and maternal mental health in Meghalaya improved. The project will have the following outcome: improved access to quality and age-appropriate childcare and maternal mental health care. The proposed ECD project will have the following outputs: (a) Home-based early childhood development services for children 0-1.5 years improved, and maternal mental health services introduced; (b) Center-based early childhood development services for children 1.5-6 years and parenting support established; and (c) Institutional capacity for ECD research and training improved.
