Project Detail:
The Ramco Cements Limited (TRCL) (formerly known as Madras Cements Ltd.,) proposes to setup a Greenfield Cement Project with State-Of-The-Art Technology for production of 3.15 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) Clinker and 2.0 MTPA Cement Plant along with a 50MW (2 X 25 MW) Coal Based Captive Thermal Power Plant, at Kalvatala Village of Kolimigundla Mandal, Kurnool District, AndhraPradesh. The limestone requirement of the plant will be 4.8 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) which will be met from the Captive Limestone mines spread over an area of 1917.51 Ha with about 531.262 million tonnes of mineable reserves will meet the limestone requirement of plant for more than 110.68 years.
Further, TRCL is planning for expansion of cement plant from the capacity of 3.15 to 4.485 MTPA of clinker production for which limestone requirement is 6.727 MTPA. Considering the 10% as exigency measures, the rated capacity of 4 nos. of feeding mines has been assessed to meet the limestone requirement @ 7.40 MTPA and the details are as given below: 1.Kolimigundla Limestone Mine 0.60 MTPA (EC obtained),
2. Chintalayapalli Limestone Mine 4.00 MTPA (EC obtained), 3. Kanakadripalli Limestone Mine 0.10 MTPA,
4. Nayanapalli Limestone Mine 2.70 MTPA To conserve the mineral, it is proposed to blend the limestone obtained from the above mines.
Kanakadripalli Limestone Mine which has about mineable reserves of 88.28 million tonnes which will last for about 882.8 years at the proposed limestone production capacity of 0.10 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) with Total Excavation of 0.118 MTPA (Limestone: 0.10 MTPA + Top Soil: 0.013 MTPA + Over Burden/Waste: 0.005 MTPA). The mining lease is valid up to 08.08.2050. The Mine is located at Petnikota & Itikyala Villages, Kolimigundla Mandal, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh and is about 6.0 km to the Cement Plant.
The proposed activity comes under Category – ‘A’ project as per Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification SO 1533, of 14- 09-2006 and subsequent amendments. It necessitates obtaining the Prior Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC).
The estimated Project cost is about Rs. 44.90 Crores
