The products of UPAL have a great demand in U.P., Uttarakhand, WB, MP, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand etc.. Project Proponent now wishes to increase the production capacity of Asbestos Corrugated Sheets to 2,50,000 MT per year from the existing 1,44,000 metric tonne per year, and also to put up pre-coloured, galvanized MS profile sheet plant (non-asbestos) of 25000 TPA capacity and also install a captive rag pulp plant 2000 TPA capacity to process the cotton rag
About Project Proponent: Sri Amitabh Tayal is the Managing Director of UP Asbestos Limited since January 1984.Under his able guidance and leadership the company has made constant progress over the years by setting up new manufacturing units at Lucknow and Dadri.
Asbestos Cement Corrugated Sheet Plant is based on fully automated closed system by adopting “Hatschek Process (Wet System)” which is more commercially viable and is currently in use in the majority of the Asbestos Cement Corrugated Sheet plants in India. This process is adopted in many countries. The same process with slight modification in the machines will achieve the Enhancement of the capacity. The raw materials required are Cement, Fly Ash, Asbestos Fibres, Cotton Rag Pulp & slag. Following shall be required to achieve the envisaged production. Ø No Additional land Ø Additional Equipment Ø Increase in size of the Sheet Ø Improved vacuum systems Ø Improved waste recycling
Advantages to the Project: There is a positive impact on the environment due to the usage of fly ash of about 20%in the product which is a waste material of a nearby Thermal power station. 1.3.2 Size of the Project The current capacity of the project is 1,44,000 TPA for Asbestos Cement Corrugated Sheets. Expansion proposal is to increase the capacity by 1,06,000TPA. So after expansion the total Capacity will be 2,50,000 TPA in the same premises where the Unit is located within reduced area of 26.03 acres. The process involves milling, mixing, sheet making, moulding, curing and storing. Also pre-coloured, galvanized MS profile sheet plant (non-asbestos) of 25000 TPA capacity will be installed besides installation of captive rag pulp plant of 2000 TPA capacity to process the cotton rag within the same reduced area.
Estimated cost of the project is Rs 5.54 crores. The time schedule for completion of the proposed expansion project is 12m after getting EC.
