Uttarakhand is a beautiful hill state in India popularly known as the ‘Dev Bhoomi’ — “Land of the Gods”. Being the Religious hub of Hindu mythology, Uttarakhand is place of divine ‘Chaar Dhaam’
which attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year. Haridwar is the gateway of Chaar Dhaam, Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers and other destinations
The proposed ropeway (Har ki Pauri to Chandi Devi Ropeway) is 2.3 km has been planned with capacity of 1800 PPHPD passes through irrigation land and reserved forest and crosses the river
Ganga. About 1.48 kms length of ropeway alignment is passing through reserve forest. Total number of towers is 13, out of which 08 are falling in reserve forest land. The lower terminal is located
nearby Deen Dyal Upadhyay Parking at NH 58 and Upper terminal is located at the junction point of pedestrian path, way to Chandi Devi Temple and way to Anjani Mata Mandir
Uttarakhand Metro Rail, Urban Infrastructure & Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (UKMRC) is planning an urban transportation ropeway connecting Har Ki Pauri to Maa Chandi Devi
Temple to facilitate the use of the non-motorized mode of transport, to reduce congestion and pollution and to prevent environmental damage due to unabated pollution.
Ropeway systems have been successfully employed for several years in material transport and for transport of passengers in hilly, mountainous and remote areas. Application of ropeways in
transportation is a cost effective, pollution free and environment friendly solution especially for townships located in hilly terrain. Main advantages of application of ropeways in transportation are:
