Project Detail:
The company has proposed construction of the third chemical berth is due to the following factors :
(i) With the implementation of the Ujwala Yojana by the Govt.of India, there is huge demand for the development of the infrastructure for the import of LPG. As far as Mumbai Port is concerned, the present cargo handling is about a million tonnes and there is scope to increase upto 1.5 million tonnes. The LPG imported by the Oil PSUs and the private users is used for the city consumption and is pumped upto the Nashik city through pipeline.
(ii) There is also scope for the increase in the liquid cargo which is mainly for the city based industries.
(iii)Presently, both the first ad second chemical berths are always occupied and the construction of third berth would be the necessity.
The Third Chemical Berth is proposed to be constructed North of First Chemical Berth at a distance of 300 m from FCB.
