Project Detail:
The Kalidaspur UG & OC is a mixed type of coal mining project involving underground and opencast workings within a project area of 655 Ha. While underground mining has been going on since grant of EC in 1986, it is now planned to start OC mining in part of the project area which is still virgin. This will help the mine in achieving higher output which is presently around 0.1 MTY from underground workings. The opencast workings are proposed within 100 Ha of the total project area. The envisaged combined peak production capacity of the mine would be 0.96 MTY. Coal will continue to be dispatched to Modern Satgram Railway siding which is at a distance of 23 kms from the mine by road in tarpaulin – covered tipper dumpers. Alternatively, coal can also be dispatched to Mejia TPP of DVC which is close to the mine, thereby, lowering the transportation costs along with causing lesser pollution. Such an agreement can be reached after obtaining EC for the project.
