Project Objectives : In line with GOI's 'Make in India' policy for Shipping sector which envisages infrastructure augmentation including creation of ship repair facilities.

Project Details : Cochin Port Trust (CoPT) has a small dry dock and marine workshops at Wellingdon Island for carrying out the repair & maintenance of small vessels. CoPT has handed over this facility to Cochin Shipyard Ltd on lease basis for 30 years in order establish & develop an international ship repair facility.
Targeted to enhance infrastructure to carryout repair of 84 nos. of ships / year.
Project Status :
1. Ministry of Shipping has accorded approval for the ISRF project on 13 Sept 2012
2. EFC application submitted on 22 April 2015. Approval awaited.
3. Kerala State Coastal regulation clearance obtained on 16 July 2015. Final EIA report submitted to MoEF on 29 Sept 2015 and clearance awaited.
Total Land Requirement : 39.53 acres (16 ha) land area.
The proposed development is within the existing Cochin Port premises and therefore additional land acquisition is not required.
