| Project Detail : | NHPC has invited bids for civil works related to the 1,720 MW Kamala Hydroelectric Project located in Kamle district, Arunachal Pradesh. The scope of work includes construction of diversion tunnels, cofferdams, main dam structures, hydro mechanical works, approach roads and bridges. The project also involves associated infrastructure such as diversion tunnels with concrete lining and three inlet structures, each feeding independent diversion tunnels. Both upstream and downstream cofferdams are proposed to be of colcrete type with overtopping design considerations. The contractor will also be responsible for arranging construction power by drawing electricity from a proposed 33/11 kV substation near the dam site. With a proposed execution period of six and a half years and six months, the Rs 5,541.23 crore package represents a major hydropower infrastructure development in Arunachal Pradesh. arlier known as the Subansiri Middle project, it is planned on the Kamala River, a tributary of the Subansiri River and aims to generate hydroelectric power while also contributing to flood moderation in the region.
