| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The Karnataka Legislature Committee on Public Undertakings (Karnataka Legislature Committee on Public Undertakings) has identified a requirement of Rs 1,250 crore for the comprehensive redevelopment of the underground drainage (UGD) system and allied infrastructure works in Mangaluru. The committee, chaired by T Raghumurthy, conducted inspections of multiple civic infrastructure projects implemented by the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation) and the Karnataka State Financial Corporation. Officials reviewed key sewage and water infrastructure assets, including drainage systems at Bejai Anegundi, wet wells at Kodialguthu, sewage treatment plants at Madhya and Surathkal, and the Kandevu River stretch. The assessment highlighted gaps in the existing network and the need for large-scale upgrades. Historical expenditure was also reviewed, including investments under ADB-funded projects, AMRUT schemes, and Smart City initiatives. Despite these efforts, only about 65 percent of the city is currently covered under the UGD network, with significant portions still requiring expansion and modernisation. The proposed redevelopment plan aims to upgrade aging pipelines, expand coverage to uncovered areas, and improve overall sewage management efficiency to address long-standing urban sanitation challenges in Mangaluru. |
