| Project Title : | Vedanta outlines mega expansion across oil and power segments, 60 lakh-tonne aluminium capacity |
| Company Name : | Vedanta Alumina Limited |
| Project Detail : | Vedanta has charted an expansion roadmap across its core businesses—aluminium, oil & gas, and power, following its planned demerger effective 01 May, 2026. The restructuring aims to create focused, sector-specific entities with independent operations, sharper strategic direction, and improved capital allocation, enabling each vertical to function as a globally competitive standalone company. A key focus is the aluminium segment, where Vedanta plans to double production capacity to 60 lakh tonne per annum, strengthening its position among the world’s lowest-cost producers through backward integration. In parallel, Vedanta is also targeting 5,00,000 barrels per day (bpd) in its oil and gas business, alongside expansion in its power portfolio. To align with long-term energy demand and transition trends, Vedanta plans to diversify its energy portfolio beyond thermal power into hydropower and nuclear energy, strengthening its presence across clean and conventional energy segments.. In addition to the power business, Vedanta is also investing heavily in future-ready sectors such as iron and steel, with plans to increase capacity from 40 lakh tonne to 100 lakh tonne per annum, supported by integrated raw material linkages. To fund its multi-sector expansion, the company has earmarked Rs 15,000 crore in growth capital expenditure, aimed at accelerating capacity additions and ensuring long-term earnings visibility. |
