| Project Detail : | India and Australia have agreed to begin developing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the provision of defence articles and services, marking a significant step toward deeper defence industrial cooperation, including the co-production and co-development of military equipment. The announcement followed the second India-Australia Defence Ministers' Dialogue, where Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles. During the dialogue, both sides reviewed progress since the inaugural meeting held in October 2025 and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic and defence relations. The Ministers also welcomed efforts to renew and enhance the Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation and agreed to explore additional engagements through the Joint Working Group on Defence Industry, Research, and Material. A major focus of the discussions was maritime security cooperation. Both countries agreed to advance collaborative maritime domain awareness initiatives involving maritime patrol aircraft, enhance undersea domain awareness, and accelerate work on the Joint Maritime Security Collaboration Roadmap. |
