| Project Title : | Hyderabad Chennai High Speed Rail Corridor realigned with reduced route length in Telangana |
| Company Name : | National High Speed Rail Corporation |
| Project Detail : | The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHRCL) has revised the alignment of the proposed Hyderabad–Chennai High-Speed Rail Corridor, significantly altering its route through Telangana to better align with state development priorities. The updated plan reduces the corridor length within Telangana from about 236 km to 123 km and lowers the land acquisition requirement from earlier estimates. Under the revised alignment, the bullet train route will now originate from Shamshabad and pass through Future City, the proposed Dry Port, Halia, and Vadapalli instead of the earlier route via Batasingaram, Narketpally, Suryapet, and Khammam. The change follows similar alignment modifications made earlier for the Hyderabad–Bengaluru high-speed rail project. Four stations are planned within Telangana—Future City, Dry Port, Halia, and Vadapalli, with three located in Nalgonda district. A key feature of the revised plan is the inclusion of a dedicated station at the proposed Dry Port, which is being developed as a major inland logistics hub to support cargo movement and customs operations for the landlocked state. The realignment is expected to strengthen connectivity, improve logistics efficiency, and support the development of key economic zones such as Future City while integrating regional infrastructure planning with the high-speed rail network. Surveys for the revised route are currently underway. |
