| Project Title : | Kurukshetra Bypass project approved, NHAI to begin land acquisition for 27.9-km corridor |
| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The long-pending Kurukshetra bypass project has received official approval, paving the way for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to begin land acquisition and implementation activities.
Announcing the development, Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said that around 217 hectares of land will be acquired for the 27.9-km bypass corridor, which will pass through 25 villages, including 24 in Thanesar subdivision and one in Pehowa subdivision. The bypass is considered one of the most significant infrastructure projects for Kurukshetra and is expected to provide substantial relief from traffic congestion in the city. The proposed route will run through the southern part of Kurukshetra, starting near Indbari close to Jyotisar on the Kurukshetra–Pehowa road and extending to Mathana village. It will connect key routes and locations, including Jyotisar, Kirmach Road, Amin Road, State Highway-6, MDR-119, and National Highway-44. Officials believe the bypass will divert through traffic away from the urban core, particularly vehicles travelling towards Delhi, where traffic volumes are significantly higher than routes towards Ambala. Once completed, the project is expected to improve travel efficiency, reduce congestion, and support better urban planning and transportation management in the district. |
