Project Title :GMDA begins trial runs of 18-km water pipeline to enhance supply across Gurugram
Company Name : Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority
Project Detail :Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has commenced trial runs of an approx. 18-km master water pipeline connecting the Chandu Budhera Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to the newly developed Sector-72 water boosting station.
The project is aimed at improving water supply across several residential sectors located along Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension Road in Gurugram. Testing of the pipeline began last week, with officials inspecting nearly 10 km of the network up to the Dwarka Expressway. Minor leaks identified during the trials are being repaired to ensure smooth commissioning. The pipeline was originally laid in 2012 by Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran but remained non-operational due to alignment changes related to the Dwarka Expressway and incomplete network connections. Over the past year, GMDA completed the missing links by laying pipeline infrastructure beneath the expressway, enabling the project to move toward commissioning. Abhinav Verma, Executive Engineer, GMDA, said testing from the Chandu Budhera treatment plant to Elan Mall in Sector-84 has been completed. "The next step would be testing of the pipeline under CPR, NH 48 and beyond. We will also test the distribution network from the water boosting station,” he said.
Once operational, the pipeline will significantly improve water availability in sectors 58 to 80, which are located at the tail end of the distribution network. Testing to be completed by the end of June, with operations beginning shortly thereafter
