| Project Detail : | ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has become the first company to receive approval for a Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) under the Government of India’s Rs 60,000-crore PM-SETU programme. The approval, granted by the National Steering Committee chaired by Debashree Mukherjee, covers the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster in Andhra Pradesh. With this development, Andhra Pradesh has become the first state to operationalise an Anchor Industry Partner (AIP) model under Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU), enabling industry-led management and modernization of government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The initiative aims to align vocational education with evolving industry requirements through upgraded infrastructure, industry-focused curricula, and enhanced workforce training. The Visakhapatnam cluster is expected to serve as a model for future collaborations between state governments and industry. The PM-SETU programme seeks to upgrade 1,000 government ITIs nationwide through a hub-and-spoke framework. The initiative is designed to create a future-ready workforce, improve employability, and establish Centres of Excellence in advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies. |
