| Project Detail : | L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore, a vertical of Larsen & Toubro has secured a large order from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals (BCGCL), a joint venture of Coal India (CIL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL). The contract involves the development of a nitric acid and ammonium nitrate plant which will be executed on a lump sum turnkey (LSTK Package-4) basis with single-point responsibility. The project is designed to convert coal into ammonium nitrate, with a planned production capacity of 2,000 tonnes per day, aimed at supporting India’s mining, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. The scope of work includes process licensing, basic design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance guarantee tests. It also covers sustained load operations, overall project management, and final handover of the complete plant and associated facilities. Once operational, the facility is expected to strengthen domestic production of ammonium nitrate, a key industrial input used in mining and construction activities. The project reinforces India’s push toward coal gasification-based value addition and self-reliance in critical industrial chemicals while leveraging integrated engineering and execution capabilities under a turnkey delivery model. |
