| Project Title : | Govt. pushes sustainable cooling solutions for India’s data centres |
| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The country’s data centre capacity has surged from 375 MW in 2020 to over 1,500 MW in 2025, intensifying pressure on water resources. In response, the Ministry of Jal Shakti has emphasised the adoption of advanced cooling technologies such as direct-to-chip liquid cooling, adiabatic systems, and immersion cooling to reduce water and energy consumption. These innovations are becoming essential for sustainable data center operations. Beyond cooling, the industry is implementing broader sustainability measures, including rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, and digital groundwater monitoring systems. As India’s digital infrastructure expands, balancing technological growth with environmental responsibility will be critical. Policymakers and industry stakeholders are increasingly focused on efficient water management to ensure sustainable development of AI and cloud ecosystems. India’s fast-growing AI and cloud computing sectors are expected to consume nearly 37.5 billion litres of water annually, raising serious concerns about long-term water security. According to NatConnect Foundation, this level of consumption is equivalent to the yearly needs of seven to eight lakh people |
