| Project Detail : | Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW) has announced the acquisition of approximately 15 acres of prime waterfront land in Saphale, Palghar, Maharashtra, with an additional five-acre expansion option. The purchase, executed through its subsidiary Knowledge Shipyard, marks a significant milestone in KMEW’s transition into a technology-driven and sustainable shipbuilding enterprise. Strategically located along the Vaitarna River and near the upcoming Vadhvan Port, the site offers strong multimodal connectivity and natural marine advantages. These include around 188 mtrs. of waterfront access, a natural slipway with approx. six mtrs. of high-tide draft, and sufficient river width to support efficient vessel movement. Such features position the facility as a high-efficiency hub for modern shipbuilding and repair operations. KMEW plans to develop a fully integrated, digitally enabled shipyard with advanced production infrastructure, smart utilities, and sustainability-focused systems such as waste management and energy optimisation. Designed as an end-to-end maritime ecosystem, the facility will support construction, repair, and lifecycle services while ensuring a people-centric, high-performance work environment. Commenting on the Said Shipyard land Acquisition, Sujay Kewalramani, CEO of Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works said that, “Our phased expansion — from specialized workboats and tugs in Phase I, to integrated repair facilities and floating dry docks in Phase II, and finally to large-scale vessels in Phase III, reflects a carefully sequenced journey of scale, innovation, and resilience.” |
