| Project Detail : | YKK Corporation has announced plans for setting up of a new manufacturing facility for its Indian subsidiary, YKK India at Origins by Mahindra World City in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The new plant will be the company’s third manufacturing unit in India and is being developed to strengthen its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing textile and apparel production markets. The upcoming factory will complement YKK’s existing facilities in Haryana and will be integrated into the company’s global manufacturing network. Designed as a state-of-the-art production hub, the Chennai facility will incorporate advanced technologies to meet rising domestic demand as well as export-oriented requirements. The project involves an investment of approx. USD 150 million, covering land, buildings, machinery, and equipment, with a planned built-up area of 74,658 sq. mtrs. on a total land parcel of 1,49,936 sq. mtrs. The facility is expected to be completed by February 2028. The new unit is expected to enhance YKK’s production capacity while also promoting localised operations in southern India. It will generate employment opportunities in the region and contribute to the local industrial ecosystem, supporting both regional development and the company’s broader strategy of strengthening its global textile supply chain capabilities. |
