| Project Detail : | Balrampur Chini Mills (BCML) has approved the establishment of a Lactogypsum processing plant in Kumbhi, Uttar Pradesh, as part of its broader strategy to enhance sustainability and value addition. The project represents a key step in leveraging by-products from its upcoming Polylactic Acid (PLA) Project, reinforcing the company’s integrated operations model. With a planned investment of up to Rs 160 crore, the facility will utilise lactogypsum—a by-product generated during PLA production, to manufacture gypsum boards. This approach not only reduces industrial waste but also contributes to environmentally responsible manufacturing practices. The plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of around 76 lakh gypsum boards, catering to growing demand in the construction and infrastructure sectors. By converting waste into commercially viable products, BCML aims to improve resource efficiency and diversify its revenue streams. Commercial operations at the plant are anticipated to begin by December 2027, positioning the company as a forward-looking player in sustainable industrial development. Alongside the lactogypsum plant approval, the Board cleared key growth initiatives. It approved a Rs 450 crore fundraise through a preferential equity issue, subject to shareholder approval, to strengthen the balance sheet and support expansion plans. Additionally, the company revised the capital expenditure for its Polylactic Acid (PLA) project to about Rs3,080 crore, reflecting updated requirements and cost increases. |
