| Project Detail : | The Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved a Rs 2,550 crore investment proposal by NPSPL Specialty Chemicals to establish a cathode material manufacturing facility in Chittoor district.
The project will be developed over 105 acres in Gudupalle Mandal and is positioned as a key addition to India’s emerging battery materials ecosystem. Cathode materials are essential components of lithium-ion batteries, directly impacting performance, energy density, lifecycle, and safety. The facility will cater to high-growth sectors such as electric vehicles, including passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and commercial fleets, as well as energy storage systems that support renewable integration and electronics requiring backup power solutions. The project has been cleared under the Andhra Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy (4.0) for 2025–2030 and is among the first 10 approved projects under the policy. To fast-track implementation, the Andhra Pradesh government has offered a customised incentive package including exemption from electricity duty for 10 years, power cost reimbursement, and classification as a high-energy industry. The project is also expected to generate around 400 direct employment opportunities, and stimulate a wider industrial ecosystem, supporting supply chains, electronics hardware manufacturing, and allied chemical industries in the region. |
