| Project Detail : | GAIL (India) plans to establish a 600 MW greenfield solar power project in Uttar Pradesh with an estimated investment of Rs 3,294 crore. The project will include a co-located battery energy storage system (BESS) of around 550 MWh to enhance grid stability and improve power supply efficiency, and the EPC work is expected to be completed within 15 months. It will be financed through a mix of debt and equity, as a structured approach to large-scale clean energy investments. The integrated battery storage system will help address intermittency challenges associated with solar energy by storing excess power generated during peak sunlight hours and supplying it during periods of higher demand. This will significantly improve reliability and grid balancing capabilities. Currently, GAIL operates a modest renewable portfolio of around 29 MW of solar capacity, making this project a major leap in its clean energy transition. The investment aligns with India’s broader push toward expanding non-fossil fuel capacity and reducing carbon emissions. |
