| Project Detail : | Honda Cars India has announced plans to produce its upcoming electric vehicle (EV) model, ‘O Alpha’, at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan with an investment of around Rs 1,200 crore. The announcement was made during a meeting between the company delegation and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who highlighted the project as a reflection of growing global confidence in the state’s investment policies and its emergence as a hub for advanced automotive manufacturing. Spread over 450 acres, the Tapukara plant has been retooled for EV production with an annual capacity of approx. 1.8 lakh units. The ‘O Alpha’ electric SUV will serve both domestic and export markets, supporting cleaner mobility and contributing to the Make in India initiative The project is expected to generate new employment opportunities, foster innovation, and strengthen Rajasthan’s role in the EV manufacturing ecosystem. This development aligns with India’s broader push toward electric mobility while positioning Honda Cars India as an early mover in the country’s EV sector. |
