| Project Detail : | Italy-based MIR Group plans to invest around 20 million euro in Mangaluru to set up a manufacturing unit for energy-efficient building materials, including building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) panels, thermal insulation products, and sodium-ion batteries. The plant, to be established in the Mangalore Special Economic Zone, is expected to be operational by February 2027. It will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million sq. mtrs. of BIPV panels, with 250,000 sq. mtrs. planned for the first year. MIR Group aims to create a sustainable building ecosystem in Mangaluru, integrating technology, design, engineering, and policy to promote Net-Zero buildings and infrastructure. Ahead of the plant’s launch, the company will host the ‘MIR NetZero Vision 2047 Summit’ to showcase innovations in zero-energy building solutions, high-performance insulation, pre-fabricated wall systems, energy storage, and BIPV façades that generate clean energy. Executives highlighted that the project will strengthen Mangaluru’s manufacturing base, complementing its growing IT sector, create employment opportunities, and accelerate adoption of sustainable urban solutions. The initiative positions the city as a hub for advanced manufacturing in energy-efficient construction and renewable energy solutions. |
