| Project Detail : | JSW Energy plans to set up its first nuclear power plant by 2030., and will explore various reactor technologies, including large and small modular reactors (SMRs). At the India Energy Week in Goa, Neeraj Agarwal, President of Nuclear Energy at JSW Energy, shared that the company is considering technologies such as 700-MW pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) and larger 1,000-megawatt options. “A final decision on technology and plant configuration will be made only after ensuring timely execution and cost control,” he explained. A pilot plant will be built first to better understand the technology and its operational dynamics before scaling up. The company is also in the process of selecting a site, with several locations being studied, though details are confidential. JSW Energy estimates nuclear project costs to range between Rs 16-20 crore per MW, depending on the chosen technology and scale. Once land acquisition and technology selection are finalised, construction will begin, with timelines being a key focus for the company. |
