| Project Title : | PWD Plans Rs 4.6 Cr Redesign of Delhi Gate Junction with Central Island and Public Spaces |
| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The Public Works Department (PWD) has proposed a major redesign of the busy Delhi Gate junction on Asaf Ali Road, introducing a landscaped central island as part of its ongoing beautification drive. Estimated at Rs 4.6 crore, the project aims to add public amenities in an area currently dominated by vehicular traffic. The redesign covers the stretch between Netaji Subhash Marg—towards the Red Fort—and Asaf Ali Road, a high-traffic corridor with minimal pedestrian space. As per the proposed layout, the new island will feature landscaped green areas, seating, a fountain, paved walkways, a children’s play zone, a skating rink and designated parking, transforming the junction into an organised public space rather than a purely vehicular intersection. Urban planners note that the key challenge will be integrating beautification with efficient traffic flow and pedestrian accessibility to avoid congestion around this critical junction. |
