| Project Title : | BMRCL begins preparing DPR for Rs 20,649-cr Bengaluru-Tumakuru Metro extension project |
| Company Name : | Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited |
| Project Detail : | The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has started preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for a proposed metro extension connecting Bengaluru to Tumakuru. The corridor will begin at Madavara, the northern terminal of the existing Green Line, and stretch to Tumakuru, covering a total length of 59.60 km. The project, which will include 25 stations, is estimated to cost Rs 20,649 crore. The consultancy firm, Aarvee Engineering Consultants, has been awarded the contract to prepare the DPR at a cost not exceeding Rs 1.2 crore. This initiative is part of Namma Metro’s Phase 4 expansion, and the report will focus on ground surveys, traffic analysis, and preliminary assessments.Additionally, the project will include an alternative analysis report (AAR) to evaluate all viable transport options. While the project aims to improve connectivity, some experts and citizens have suggested that a suburban rail line might be a more cost-effective alternative. |
