| Project Detail : | Indian Railways has sanctioned Rs 431.76 crore for rebuilding a critical railway bridge on the Howrah–Kharagpur section in West Bengal, aimed at strengthening capacity to meet present and future operational demands. The project, approved at an estimated cost of Rs 432 crore, falls under the administrative control of the South Eastern Railway zone. Designed to handle rising axle loads, higher traffic volumes and planned train speeds of up to 130 kmph, the new bridge will be engineered to support a gross tonnage of 57 GMT. The upgrade is expected to significantly enhance safety, reliability and throughput on one of the busiest rail corridors in eastern India. |
