| Project Detail : | The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 22 new proposals under the third tranche of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving a projected investment of Rs 41,863 crore. This brings the total number of approved projects under the scheme to 46. The new approvals are expected to generate production worth Rs 2,58,152 crore and create 33,791 direct employment opportunities, more than double the combined production value of the first two tranches. The projects span 11 product segments, including mobile phones, telecom equipment, consumer electronics, IT hardware, automobiles, and strategic electronics, covering components like PCBs, capacitors, camera and display modules, Li-ion cells, and supply chain items such as aluminium extrusion and anode material. These will be set up across eight states: Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. “In continuation to earlier approvals, MeitY has further approved 22 proposals under the ECMS,” as stated in the background note, emphasising its focus on balanced industrial growth and expansion of electronics manufacturing nationwide. |
