| Project Detail : | The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved two railway projects of the Ministry of Railways with a total cost of Rs 24,815 crore. The projects include the Ghaziabad–Sitapur third and fourth line (403 km route, 859 km track length) with an estimated cost of Rs 14,926 crore, and the Rajahmundry (Nidadavolu)–Visakhapatnam (Duvvada) third and fourth line (198 km route, 458 km track length) with a cost of Rs 9,889 crore. The capacity expansion is expected to enhance mobility, improve operational efficiency, and increase service reliability for Indian Railways. These multi-tracking projects will help streamline operations and reduce congestion on key routes. They have been planned under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, focusing on integrated, multi-modal connectivity and improved logistics efficiency. The projects will cover 15 districts across Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, adding around 601 km to the existing railway network. They will also improve connectivity to key religious and tourist destinations such as Dudheshwarnath Temple, Garhmukteshwar Ganga Ghat, Dargah Shah Wilayat Jama Masjid in Amroha, Naimisharanya in Sitapur, Annavaram, Antarvedi, and Draksharamam. |
