| Project Title : | Cabinet approves two semiconductor projects in Gujarat under India Semiconductor Mission |
| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The Union Cabinet has approved financial support worth Rs 3,936 crore for two semiconductor manufacturing projects by Crystal Matrix and Suchi Semicon under the first phase of the India Semiconductor Mission. These approvals mark the final set of projects in the initial phase of the national semiconductor initiative aimed at boosting domestic chip production. Crystal Matrix will establish a facility in Dholera, Gujarat, focused on producing display panels and GaN wafers for mini and micro LED applications. These components will be used in large-format displays, studio production systems, and ruggedised defence displays. The project is expected to generate around 1,600 direct jobs and has been developed with collaboration from South Korea’s display technology ecosystem. Suchi Semicon will set up a plant near Surat with Rs 858 crore in government support. It will manufacture lead frame and wire-bond packaging semiconductors used in devices such as air conditioners, televisions, laptops, and battery management systems. The initiative reflects India’s strategy to enter emerging micro-LED and advanced display technologies early, aiming to build long-term capability in semiconductor manufacturing and reduce import dependence. |
