| Project Detail : | The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has given approval for a 600-mtrs., six-lane underpass beneath Begumpet Airport as part of the proposed elevated corridor project. This key development was confirmed by an official from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). The underpass is an integral component of the 5.4-km elevated corridor stretching from Paradise Junction to Military Dairy Farm Road, passing through Secunderabad, Tadbund, and Bowenpally. It aims to address space constraints, as the structure is not feasible near the airport runway, and also to avoid a sharp turn in Tadbund. With this approval, a major hurdle for the project has been cleared. The construction involves land acquisition from 42 acres of defence land and 13 acres of private land. The HMDA is simultaneously executing two other elevated corridors—Paradise Junction-Shamirpet and Paradise Junction-Dairy Farm Road. The project, with a total cost of Rs 5,106 crore, is funded by the New Development Bank, with the state government covering the remaining cost. This development aims to improve connectivity in the region and is expected to boost infrastructure in Hyderabad. |
