| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The state government has issued an order approving the construction of Metro Line?8, a 34.9-km high-speed corridor that will connect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport at an estimated cost of Rs 22,862.07?crore. The project will be developed under the design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) framework with 40?percent viability gap funding (VGF) to support this essential but commercially challenging public-private partnership infrastructure project. The urban development department has stated that the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) will execute the Metro under the PPP model, with the Central and state governments each contributing 20?percent of the VGF, while the private concessionaire and NMIA will fund the remainder of the cost. Metro Line?8 will feature both elevated and underground sections across its alignment and is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two airports, ease road congestion, and provide seamless connectivity for passengers and commuters. The project supports broader efforts to enhance regional transport infrastructure and strengthen connectivity between key urban and aviation hubs in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). |
