| Project Detail : | The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved the construction of a modern medical college and hostel complex at the Indira Gandhi Hospital campus in Dwarka. The project, estimated at Rs 805.99 crore, is targeted for completion by 2028 and aims to significantly strengthen healthcare and medical education infrastructure in the national capital. Approved during a meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC), the project will include a full-fledged medical college, separate hostels for male and female students, faculty housing, and a modern academic block. Developed in accordance with National Medical Commission (NMC) norms, the institution will eventually accommodate 250 MBBS seats annually, with teaching activities beginning with an initial intake of 150 students. The first phase will cover construction of the academic block, student hostels, and faculty residences across nearly 1,17,246 sq. mtrs., including basement facilities for parking and utilities in nearly 34,000 sq. mtrs. The campus will feature advanced classrooms, laboratories, solar power systems, rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and energy-efficient infrastructure. The Public Works Department will execute the project, while the Health and Family Welfare Department will oversee implementation. Officials have been directed to ensure strict quality standards, timely execution, and sustainable construction practices. |
